About Me
A LIFE SHAPED BY THE MOUNTAINS
I was born and raised in Phortse, Khumbu, a village deeply rooted in Sherpa culture and mountaineering. My own path began at the Khumbu Climbing Center in my hometown, where I was introduced to climbing and discovered what would eventually become my profession.
Over the years, I have reached the summits of 18 eight-thousanders, completed the first winter ascent of Luza Peak, and climbed Everest’s Direct North Face through the historic Hornbein Couloir. More than a decade of climbing and guiding gradually came together with my passion for the camera, leading to work as a cinematographer and photographer on films including Tenzing, Everest: The Other Side and Full Circle Everest.
Today, I remain closely connected to where it all began, sharing my knowledge at the Khumbu Climbing Center while continuing to climb, document the Himalayas and support mountain communities. Through both climbing and filmmaking, I hope to help preserve and share the people, cultures and traditions of the mountains with a wider world.
